Let’s GO on a Road Trip UK Style !!
6th Aug 2021
Planning to stay in the UK this summer?
Lets pack up the motor and hit the road and explore some of the country’s most treasured destinations !!
Scotland
North Coast 500 ? Is an absolute MUST !
The North Coast itinerary is now followed by drivers, cyclists, locals and visitors ticking over the 500 miles (516 to be exact) of ‘Scotland’s Route 66’. heading west from Inverness to the top of Scotland’s mainland, John O’Groats, and back down the east coast (or in reverse). Oh and word of warning; the further north you go, the stronger the accent gets and the later into the night you drink with the locals, the harder it is to interpret! So much to see & do you’ll need to allow five to seven days to get the most of this route.
The Cotswolds
There are a few ways to get from Stratford-upon-Avon to Bath by train, bus or car If you choose car, you’ll drive around 149 miles. We recommend allowing a full week to make the most of all the sights on offer. The distance cover around 125 miles. Popular villages, not to be missed are Oxford, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud and Tewkesbury. Often filled with glorious sunsets and beautiful early morning birdsong…
The Causeway Coastal Route, Northern Ireland
This is one of our personal favourites a spectacular coastal road runs from Belfast to Derry-Londonderry and offers drivers cliff-top views and a visit to the famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge (not for the faint-hearted!)
The trip is approx. 195-miles. you’ll need to set aside 3-5 days to give yourself enough time to soak it all up. Whatever you do try to squeeze in our top 5 hot spots ! Carrickfergus Castle
The Carrick-a-Rede Rope bridge
Dunluce Castle
Torr Head
The Giant’s Causeway
The Dragon's Spine, Wales
One of the best ways to see Wales is by driving coast to coast. The A470 runs all the way from Cardiff in the south to Conwy in the north, It’ll take you through bustling cities, two national parks, and many miles (186 to be exact) of beautiful countryside and old-timey pubs.. Start in the Welsh capital, then head up through the South Wales Coalfield to the Brecon Beacons. You could bang it all out in a couple of days, but NOOO its far to special – We recommend four to five days.
The Atlantic Highway, Southwest England
Atlantic Highway is the name given to a long and winding 70-mile section of the A39 which runs from Barnstaple in north Devon down to Fraddon, on the outskirts of Newquay. Sandwiched between barley fields and a succession of bays and beach breaks, the Devon section from Barnstaple to Bude is a magical concertina that creases and folds along the coast. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even veer off on a private toll road to the lighthouse at Trevose Head, near Padstow. This is the perfect trip for Englands best weather has featured on many a list rating the best road trips in the UK, Europe and even the world.
What ever the plan where ever the route takes you prepare well - take care & enjoy x
